ESSENTIAL TIME MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES THAT WILL ELEVATE YOUR PRODUCTIVITY

ESSENTIAL TIME MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES THAT WILL ELEVATE YOUR PRODUCTIVITY

Time management has always and will always be a key element to success in everything you do, be it working in an office, doing your house chores, or even studies. Planning your work limits time wastage, and elevates your productivity, but the sad thing is, we fail to plan and end up wasting most of our time.
Although there are a million techniques that can help you maximize your time, below are five and simple essential time management techniques that are worth being practiced.

1. PREPARE A MUST DO LIST AND PRIORITIZE

Good time management results in the completion of tasks whether they take ten minutes or hours to finish. Prepare your must-do list and prioritize the most important ones. Do not start with the easy ones as many people do but start with the urgent ones then finish with the least important ones.
Following your must-do list will motivate you, keep you focused and prevent you from multitasking.

2. DO YOUR PLANNING WELL

Another essential time management technique is planning. Planning your work helps you stick to your goals, and saves time. After making your must-do list and prioritizing tour tasks, plan how you will accomplish then, this is the time to think about the resources you need and make sure you have them before starting the task. You can plan your work a day before or early in the morning before doing anything.

3. GIVE EACH TASK TIME A LIMIT

Allocating each task a time limit helps you avoid destruction and stay focused. Remember to put a break between the tasks to refresh your mind and prepare for the next task, breaks also give you extra time to finish a task if time runs out so that you don't eat into the next task's time.

4. AVOID DISTRACTIONS

Do you know it takes about 23 minutes to refocus after a distraction? Let's say something disrupts you for ten minutes that means you will need at least 30 minutes to settle down, what if this happens four times a day? Do your math. Manage your time by effectively avoiding disruption and remain productive. weather its phone calls, pop up notifications, social media, talkative colleagues, etc. find ways to avoid them, you can turn off notifications, set aside time for social media, and for colleagues who can't shut up, be courageous enough to tell them you have a deadline.

5. SIMPLY SAY NO

Many people find it hard to say no to things that hinder them from reaching their target, such things include dinner invitations, doing a favor to a friend or taking more job from your boss, if such things come up and you have a lot on your plate, simply say no, plan it for another time, it's better that way than to burden yourself and be less productive.

FINAL THOUGHTS

You don't need a degree to manage your time but simple time management techniques, remember everyone has 24 hours in a day, some end it satisfied having achieved their goal while others end it scratching their heads wondering why they didn't do this and that. The decision to get the most out of your time lies in your hands. Follow the above techniques, manage your time, enjoy your work and get positive results.
