EFFECTIVE FACIAL CARE TIPS FOR OILY SKIN

You may be wondering why your skin looks shiny and greasy; well, it is a result of too much sebum produced by the sebaceous glands in the skin. Sebum is the waxy, oily element that protects and hydrates the skin. However, too much of it can cause oily and shiny skin, blocked pores, and acne. Coming up with a skincare routine is important for keeping your skin beautiful and attractive. Below are facial care tips to help you manage your oily skin and have a flawless complexion.

Wash Your Face two times a Day

Use warm water and appropriate face wash for oily skin in the morning and at night before going to bed. Cleaning your face more frequently removes natural oils hence making your skin sensitive.

Pat the face with a soft towel

After washing your face, don’t pull it down with a towel to dry, instead pat it dry with a soft cloth. Pulling down on the skin with a towel, may stimulate the skin to produce additional sebum.

Exfoliate

Excess production of sebum leads to dead cells on the skin, which causes clogging of pores and leads to the appearance of blackhead pimples, acne, and whiteheads. To eliminate this dirt and dead cells, consider exfoliating your skin with face scrub suitable for oily skin twice a week.

Go for Oil-Free Diet

Reduce fried and processed foods, sugary or sweetened beverages, and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.

Moisturize twice a day

Although it might look unnecessary to moisturize your face if you have oily skin, it is one of the most important things to do. What you have to consider is the type of moisturizer you use, make sure you select moisturize that is:

  • free of oils
  • lightweight
  • water-based

Try a Clay Mask

Using a face mask is good for relaxing your skin, but it can also help manage the look of overly oily skin. The clay face mask will eliminate dirt, impurities, makeup, and excess oils and reduce the shiny look. For best results, use it three times a week and apply a moisturizer afterward.

Apply sunscreen outdoors

Never forget to wear a sunscreen that’s at least SPF 30 when going outdoors, titanium dioxide or zinc oxide in sunscreen is beneficial ingredients that prevent acne breakouts. You can wear a daily moisturizer with sunscreen to make things easy.

Use an Alcohol-Free Toner

Daily toning help eliminates dirt and excess oil from your skin, after cleaning your face apply an exfoliating toner which is best for oily skin, ensure that your toner contains either one of this:

  • lactic acid
  • glycolic acid
  • salicylic acid
